Electrical Panel Upgrades & Changes

Outdated panel? We provide safe, code-compliant upgrades that handle today’s electrical demands.

Electrical Panel Upgrades & Changes

Your panel is the heart of your electrical system. If yours is a fuse box, an aging 60- or 100-amp service, or a panel that is full and struggling to keep up, an upgrade is not cosmetic. It is the foundation every other electrical decision rests on. We inspect the existing service, calculate the load you actually need, and complete the upgrade to code, with the ESA permit pulled and the inspection arranged from start to finish.

Often paired with ev charger installation, generator installation, and knob & tube rewiring. We coordinate the whole job under a single permit when it makes sense.

Panel Upgrades, work in progress

What’s included

  • Load calculation and capacity planning for current and future demand
  • Removal of legacy 60-amp or 100-amp service and old fuse boxes
  • 200-amp service upgrade with new meter base, mast, and main breaker
  • Panel changes and replacements for code compliance and new appliances
  • Permit pulled and ESA inspection coordinated end to end
  • Clean, clearly labelled panel layout for future serviceability

When to call us

  • Breakers tripping when major appliances run at the same time
  • A panel with screw-in fuses or no room left for new circuits
  • Plans for an EV charger, heat pump, hot tub, or basement renovation
  • Burn marks, buzzing, or warm spots near the panel
  • An insurer or buyer asking for documentation of your service rating

How it works

  1. 01
    On-site assessment

We review your existing service, current load, and what you are planning, then confirm what the upgrade actually involves.

  2. 02
    Permit & schedule

We pull the ESA permit and book the utility disconnect window with London Hydro.

  3. 03
    Install day

Old service out, new 200-amp service in, panel reorganized and clearly labelled. Power is restored the same day in most cases.

  4. 04
    Inspection & sign-off

ESA inspects, the certificate is issued, and you get the paperwork your insurer or future buyer will want.

FAQ

Panel Upgrades: questions we hear most.

Real answers from a licensed electrician. If you don’t see yours, call us and we’ll work through it.

01How much does a 200-amp panel upgrade cost?
Cost depends on whether your existing service can be reused, the length of the run from the meter to the panel, whether the mast or meter base needs replacing, and what the panel feeds. We walk the job, confirm what is actually involved, and give you a clear quote before any work starts.
02How long does a panel upgrade take?
Once the permit and the utility disconnect window are scheduled, the install itself is typically a single day, and power is restored the same day in most cases. The ESA certificate follows shortly after.
03Do I need a panel upgrade for an EV charger?
Often, yes. A Level 2 EV charger draws 30 to 50 amps continuously, and most 100-amp panels are already close to capacity. We start with a load calculation. If you already have 200-amp service, a dedicated circuit is usually all you need.
04Should I replace an old fuse box?
In most cases, yes. Fuse boxes were not designed for modern household loads, they offer no room to grow, and many insurers now ask homeowners to replace them. A modern breaker panel is safer and far easier to live with.
05Do you pull the ESA permit?
Always. Every panel upgrade we do is pulled and inspected so the work is on the record. You receive the ESA certificate for your files and your insurer.
