Generator Installation

Keep the lights, heat, and essentials running when the power goes out.

Generator Installation

When the power goes out, a properly installed generator keeps your furnace, fridge, sump pump, and the rest of the essentials running. We assess what you need to keep on, install the transfer switch that safely separates your generator from the grid, wire the backup circuits, and pull the ESA permit so the install is done right. Backfeeding a panel with the wrong setup is dangerous to you and to line crews, so this is one job that is worth doing properly the first time.

Often paired with panel upgrades, residential electrical, and 24/7 emergency service. We coordinate the whole job under a single permit when it makes sense.

FAQ

Generator Installation: questions we hear most.

Real answers from a licensed electrician. If you don’t see yours, call us and we’ll work through it.

01What size generator do I need?
It depends on what you want to keep running. A small standby setup can cover a furnace, sump pump, fridge, and some lights, while a whole-home system runs almost everything. We help you figure out the right size based on your essentials and coordinate with your supplier.
02Why do I need a transfer switch?
A transfer switch safely separates your generator from the utility grid. Without one, power can backfeed onto the lines and put utility crews at serious risk, and it can damage your equipment. A proper transfer switch is required and is the core of any safe generator install.
03Can you wire a generator I already bought?
Yes. If you have already purchased a standby or portable generator, we install the transfer switch and backup circuits and connect it safely. We will confirm the unit is sized correctly for what you want to power.
04Do generator installs need an ESA permit?
Yes. Generator and transfer switch work requires an ESA permit in Ontario. We pull the permit and arrange the inspection so the install is properly documented.
